Home-based Care (HBC)
The main task of "Senanga Home Based Care" is support and care for
chronically ill patients in the form of moral and psychosocial
support, especially for PLWHA-patients ("people living with
HIV/aids") and for people suffering from tuberculosis (TB). Support is
also provided in the form of supplementary food. In addition the
local communities are being made aware of HIV, aids and TB related
issues by means of drama. Senanga Home Based Care is caring for
about 600
patients. This is done by 20
volunteers. Part of their training expenses has
been paid by Zambridge. New bicycles for transport have been
provided.
Some of the patients who use AIDS medication have enlisted as
volunteers. They have also started a business in second-hand
clothes. With the revenues generated they can buy food and pay
school fees for their children. The Zambridge Foundation provided
the start-up money for this activity.
With the help of funds raised by Zambridge a toilet block has been
constructed next to the building of HBC.
With support from the Wild Geese in 2021 a Youth Friendly Corner
has been established where advice is given about youth and health
problems. This is done in cooperation with the schools.
