Maternity Building
The building which was originally intended to serve as an
accomodation for high risk pregnant women is now being used by the
hospital for mother & child care and for HIV/AIDS consulting &
testing.
Women are checked during their pregnancy and
children under the age of five are periodically checked on growth
and they get vaccinated. Mothers are provided with advise on
anti-conception and AIDS -prevention.
People are being tested on AIDS on a voluntary basis. The number of
sero-positives is extremely high. From 2004, AIDS medicines have
been provided.
Awareness of the AIDS problem and breaking
down the taboo is the cornerstone in the fight against this disease.
Therefore the Zambridge Foundation funded the training of two AIDS
advisers.
The Maternity Stay supports:
consultation office;
maternity checkups;
HIV / AIDS for mothers and children;
treatments of HIV / AIDS infected mothers and children.
